The API Performance Club is a comprehensive, goal-oriented program serving student-athletes who are committed to improving their athletic ability on a regular, consistent schedule. Performance Club athletes meet specific eligibility requirements and are selected by the API coaching staff for participation.

Performance Club athletes understand the importance of regular testing and evaluation as a foundation for the development of their training program. Performance Club athletes make sport performance training a priority in the off-season to enhance their athletic skills as they prepare for their next competitive sports season. During the season, Performance Club athletes work to maintain the skills that they worked so hard to develop in the off-season.

In addition to sport performance training, Performance Club athletes understand the value of adhering to a healthy, well-balanced nutrition plan as an important part of their athletic lifestyle.

Performance Club athletes are held to a different standard. A standard of excellence expected to be upheld and enhanced in sport, and in life, by the active demonstration of skills such as discipline, self-confidence, preparation, self-motivation and leadership.

API's vision is to focus on the development of the Performance Club and to provide a high level of service to each Performance Club athlete and their family. The following programs have been created to supplement API's Strength, Speed and Conditioning program. Performance Club members will receive all that API has to offer including.

Performance Readiness Evaluation
What is measured can be improved! The API Performance Readiness Evaluation (PRE) is a complete, bio-mechanical strength, flexibility and movement analysis used as a foundation in the design of each Performance Club athlete's training program.

Nike SPARQ Rating
API's preferred method for the evaluation of each athlete's current athletic skills. The SPARQ rating (www.sparqtraining.com) is a powerful new tool for measuring overall athleticism. The results of 4 to 5 tests are combined into a single score which shows an athlete and their API coaches exactly where they stand athletically and how they can improve their performance through training.

Sports Nutrition Program
A four (4) part seminar series designed to educate Performance Club athletes on the importance of developing healthy nutritional habits that will positively affect their sport performance, training outcome and overall health. Seminars 1, 2 and 3 are presented in a small-group format (4-6 athletes). Seminar 4 is an individual counseling session where each athlete's personal nutrition plan is finalized to ensure long-term success.

Athlete Web Profile
An interactive resume and biography created for Performance Club athletes to use to promote themselves during the recruiting process. Profile will include academic history, sport-related statistics, athletic skills statistics, pictures and highlight videos.

Sports Massage Program
This modality of massage is specific to athletic training/maintenance, pre & post competition and rehabilitation. Techniques used in each phase of training will help prevent injury and enhance performance. Includes muscle testing for targeting problematic areas and facilitated stretching to utilize muscle potential.

To Deliver SUPERIOR Results

As Certified Strength and Conditioning Coaches (CSCS) with many years of professional experience and insight into the science of exercise and training, we fully-understand the overwhelming importance of providing a well-rounded, multi-dimensional training program. A program that incorporates distinct phases of training, with specific goals for each phase, throughout the calendar year.

This training strategy known as Periodization is commonly applied in the collegiate setting where Strength and Conditioning Coaches have the ability to structure an annual training program that involves off-season, pre-season and in-season training phases.

Working closely with Performance Club athletes and their families will allow API to structure a Periodized training program. By providing time-efficient "in-home" or "off-site" training programs and providing greater scheduling flexibility at API, training during the sport season will be a reality.

To fit training fees into the monthly budget

As a Performance Club athlete, API families now have the ability to include training fees into the monthly budget. This payment system also supports the vision of the Performance Club. A vision that encourages athletes and parents to view sport performance training as a consistent part of their off-season and in-season training program.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of a minimum of one (1) API Seasonal Program
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Nomination from member of API coaching staff
  • Approval from API management staff
