Stephen Vaught earned his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Virginia Tech where he served as a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. Stephen has over 15 years experience working with athletes of all ages and sports. Stephen is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise and a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute. Before founding API in 2004, Stephen served as the Fitness Director and Personal Training Coordinator at the Skyline Sport & Health Club (Falls Church, VA) and the Annapolis Athletic Club (Annapolis, MD). Griffin WildGriffin Wild, Director of Operations

Griffin Wild earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, with a minor in Marketing, from Lynchburg College. At Lynchburg, he was a 4-year member of the Lynchburg College Baseball team and was named team captain in his senior year. Prior to attending Lynchburg College, Griffin graduated from Severna Park High School where he received numerous county and state accolades for baseball. joined the API team in May 2019 as an intern. In September 2019, he became operations manager and customer service representative. In September 2020, Griffin became Director of Operations. In addition to his role as Director of Operations, Griffin is an assistant coach for API Baseball Academy (API Baseball 14U Red, Summer 2020). Griffin brings to the API team an extensive knowledge of sports, customer service relations, and equipment maintenance, as well as a life-long passion for sports. Contact Griffin

Danny Locklear Danny Locklear, Director of Sports Performance

Danny Locklear earned his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Frostburg State University and his Master's Degree in Exercise Science & Coaching from Concordia University Irvine. Danny is passionate about improvement in sports performance and in people. Using his background in strength training, Coach Danny works with his athletes and clients to create a "journey-based" approach to improving their athletic performance and reaching their fitness goals. Coach Danny is a Certified Performance Specialist through EXOS, a certified Sports Performance Coach through USAW, and is certified in Olympic Weightlifting through the USA Weightlifting Association. Amy ShafferAmy Shaffer, Director of All-Sport Kids Academy

Amy Shaffer earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science from Salisbury University. Amy has a long history of instructing and working with kids of all ages in athletic environments. Most recently, Amy was the Program Director at Gymboree Play and Music where she led and facilitated a variety of instructional classes with a focus on early childhood development. Prior to that, she was an instructor with the YMCA Tumble Tots (for ages 2-4) and with the Jump Bunch Sports Program (for ages 2-12). Amy brings energy, a positive attitude, and a sense of creativity to every child with whom she works. Amy is a current member of the Maryland Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and a Certified Sport Education Program Coach. Contact Amy

Austin JamesAustin James, Operations Manager

Austin James attended Towson University where he earned his bachelor's degree in Communications. While at Towson, he worked as operations supervisor at the campus gym and was named Operations Supervisor of the Year. Austin joined the API team in 2016 as Assistant Director of Summer Camps for All-Sport Kids Academy and was named Summer Camp Director in 2020. He has several years' experience working with youth of all ages. As Operations Manager, Austin assists with the day-to-day operations at API including field rentals, field transitions, customer service, and more. Austin is also the Assistant Director for the All-Sport Kids Academy. You can find him coaching homeschool classes, running the developmental programs, and leading birthday parties. Contact Austin

Kate PowersKate Powers, Marketing Coordinator

Kate Powers earned her Bachelor's Degree in English-Writing, with minors in Business and Psychology, from Marist College. She joined the API team in 2011, when API first opened its doors at the Gambrills location, as Customer Service Representative. In 2016, she became Marketing Coordinator. In this role, Kate handles all marketing and advertising directives for the API brand, including API’s social media accounts, sponsorship opportunities, business partnerships, website, digital campaigns, and print materials. keith-leaderKeith Matney, Consultant

Keith Matney has over 25 years experience in successfully directing new business start-ups and launching new product lines for existing companies. During his career, Keith has been a small business owner/operator as well as a National Sales & Training Manager and North American Marketing Manager for two multi-national construction product manufacturing companies. Keith is a Certified Sports Arena Operator with US Indoor Sports Association and has over 5 years experience as an Operations Director for a multi-sport indoor facility. He specializes in facility conversions and has successfully converted an ice rink arena and an indoor tennis facility to multi-sport turf and flex court facilities.
